Sound Social is operated on the Kitsap Peninsula, Washington. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what the club needs to work, we never sell your information, and the personal stuff Kindling learns about you stays yours.
1. What We Collect
When you create an account or register for events:
- Name: your first and last name.
- Email address: for signing in and club communications.
- Date of birth: to confirm you are 18 or older and to show your age decade (like “40s”) to other members where relevant.
- Gender and who you're open to meeting: used only by Kindling to keep “maybe more” suggestions mutually relevant.
- Phone number (optional): for event-related contact.
If you opt in to Kindling, additionally:
- Your questionnaire answers: lifestyle, personality, closeness style, values, communication preferences, interests, and the optional just-for-fun items. Sensitive questions (faith, politics, children) always include a prefer-not-to-say option, and skipping them never counts against you.
- Your connection intent: what kinds of connection you are open to, including the private romance-intent answer.
We also keep standard records of event registrations, attendance, and payments. Card payments are processed by Stripe; your card number never touches our servers.
2. What Other Members Can See
This is the part most people care about, so here is the exact list. Members who have opted in to Kindling may see, about other opted-in members:
- First name and last initial, and age decade
- Kindling Type (like “Sunrise Wayfinder”) and selected interests
- Kindling's pairwise reasoning (“you're both early risers who love live music”) and a confidence phrase
- Only the connection categories you both chose
Never shown to any other member:
- Your individual questionnaire answers
- Your personality trait scores and closeness style
- Your values ratings, including faith and politics
- Your romance intent
- One-sided interest of any kind
Members who have not opted in to Kindling appear to others only as name, age decade, and event attendance.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Running your account, event registrations, and payments
- Generating Kindling suggestions and your personal readout
- Sending transactional email: confirmations, reminders, receipts, password resets
- Improving the club, including learning which kinds of gatherings and introductions work; over time Kindling learns from real participation
4. Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information, ever. We share data only with the services that make the club run: Stripe for payments and our email provider for club mail, and with authorities if the law requires it. Event hosts see the attendee information described in section 2, plus what they need to run the event, such as check-in lists.
5. Your Choices
- Kindling is opt-in and pausable. Pausing hides you from all suggestions and hides suggestions from you, and keeps your answers saved. You can also retake the questionnaire anytime, which replaces your previous answers.
- Sensitive questions can always be skipped.
- Email: newsletter mail includes an unsubscribe option; transactional mail (like receipts and password resets) is sent as needed.
- Deletion: ask us at info@soundsocial.club and we will delete your account and personal information, subject to records we must keep, such as payment history.
6. Security and Retention
Passwords are stored hashed, connections are encrypted with TLS, and access to member data is limited to people who operate the club. We keep your information while your account is active and delete or anonymize it after your account closes, except where the law requires longer retention.
7. Children
Sound Social is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
8. Changes and Contact
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and for meaningful changes we will tell members by email. Questions belong at info@soundsocial.club.
